Bucks for Bosco

Volunteers braved one of the busiest roadways in Zanesville today to collect money for the Zanesville Police Departments K-9 unit.

At the intersection of Maple Avenue and Bell Street motorists had the chance to drop off donations, which will go to help pay for K-9 officer Bosco’s medical bills as he recovers from gunshot wounds.

Keith Hamilton sponsored the collection and says it’s worth the cost to protect the community.

“You know I’m a firm believer and I’m a big supporter of the police departments. Our community is just what we have and it has to be as safe as we can be and you know, with the K-9 unit that’s a tool that we have to have, because those dogs are special and they can do things that we obviously are not able to do,” he says.

There are still opportunities to donate to the K-9 Fund. At www.BucksforBosco.com you can make donations or buy Bosco t-shirts.

“Bucks for Bosco was created by the family mainly to be a central hub for all things Bosco. The events that we’re having, the events that other people are having. We put them up on the site so people can get one place where they can go to and get all the information,” says Ryan Sharrer, Officer Schiele’s cousin.

Saturday at Kroger in Zanesville from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. there will be a bake sale to benefit the K-9 fund. Officer Mike Schiele may be on hand to help collect donations.

You can drop off donations anytime at the Zanesville Police Department or local Huntington Banks.
