Fall Colors to Be Vivid

We may not be in the official fall season yet, but you can’t tell by looking at some of the trees across the area.

Some are already beginning to change colors.

“We’ll start seeing some of the early trees start to turn color. If you notice that the Dogwoods are beginning to turn color. They’re kind of a reddish color now, ” says Ohio State University Extension Program’s Mark Mechling.

Mechling says because of some cool nights and a dry summer, he expects the leaves to turn vivid colors this year.

He says if you enjoy seeing the leaves change, there are some great places to take some pictures across Southeastern Ohio.

“Dillon State Park, obviously, and Blue Rock State Park. Those are some areas that you can start to begin to see the fall colors. If we get down into the Morgan County area, where there’s a lot of strands of oak, we really get to see some nice reds and oranges down in the Morgan County area, ” says Mechling.

Mechling says he anticipates that the peak of our fall foliage, locally, will be around the second weekend in October.
