Pipeline Almost Complete

Construction on the Rockies Express Pipeline is wrapping up and local leaders are celebrating the progress that’s been made in the area.

A bridge dedication was held Wednesday morning at the Blue Rock Creek Bridge, which REX donated to Muskingum County. It’s one of three bridges the company made improvements to in order to haul heavy equipment so they could build the pipeline.

"The extra part of that is making sure the adverse effects of that, whatever they might be, or activity such as utilizing bridges and roads we also work with the county on those issues as well. We’ve had a great relationship with Muskingum
County throughout the course of this project," says Allen Fore, REX director of community relations.

Fore says Muskingum County is the most active location on the 1700 mile long natural gas pipeline.

One fixture that will remain in the area once the pipeline is complete is the Chandlersville Compressor Station, which will permanently employ six to 10 people.

"There will be activity because this is in a sense our operations center for the area and will be a big focal point for Rockies Express Pipeline in eastern and central Ohio," he says.

The pipeline is scheduled to start transporting gas in our area November 1, after that date a small group of construction workers will stay behind to complete restoration projects.

All of the unused lumber and materials from the compressor station will be donated to the East Muskingum Local School District.
