Southeastern Ohio Veterans ‘to be Honored

Three area veterans will be inducted as members of the Ohio Veterans Hall of Fame next month.

89-year-old Lewis Baker from Coshocton County served as a member of the United States Army Air Corps and is a veteran of World War II and Former Prisoner of War. He currently serves as the Treasurer fo the ex-POW’s and widows Wooster Chapter.

Donald Jakeway is also a WWII veteran from Licking County who served in the United States Army. Jakeway is the past commander of American Legion Post Number 254.

Doris Powell will also join the Hall of Fame. This Morgan County native served in the United States Women’s Army Corps duing WWII. Powell was an active member of several veterans’ service organizations.

The induction ceremony for the Veteran’s and 17 others from across Ohio will be honored November 6 at 3pm at the Franklin County Veteran’s Memorial in Columbus.
