Motorcyclists for Kids This Saturday

Bikers and teddy bears are not two things that normally go together, but this Saturday bikers will be bringing in toys to help children in our community.

This is the 13th year for "Motorcyclists For Kids" and last year brought in around $3,000 for toys for children in Muskingum, Perry and Morgan counties.

"What we do is it is actually the kick off for the Salvation Army Christmas Campaign. We raise money and toys for the kids in a 3 county area. It will help with the Christmas toys the angel tree and also the food baskets for the Christmas campaign," says organizer Vickie Erichsen.

Erichsen says bringing all the motorcycle groups together at one time will bring in more money than if each group held a fundraiser separately. Registration for the event will be from 1 PM til 2 PM Saturday at the Colony Square Mall.

"They can either bring a toy or they can drop by and bring money.  If you want to participate they will have a bike blessing or they can just come out and look at the bikes," says Erichsen.

At 3:15 PM the bikes will leave with a police escort and drive back to the Salvation Army. The record is 300 bikes and Erichsen says she hopes to beat that this year.
