Fairfield County Crash Claims One Life
Fairfield County had its 17th fatal crash of the year Tuesday afternoon, more than doubling the amount of fatal crashes the county saw in all of 2008.
According to the Lancaster Post of the State Highway Patrol, around 4 p.m. 73-year-old Barbara West of Carroll was traveling southbound on Mill Park Road in Hocking Township and failed to yield at a stop sign.
46-year-old Lannette Tipple of Lancaster was traveling westbound on State Route 188 when West ran the stop sign and the two women’s vehicles collided.
West was not wearing her seat belt and was pronounced dead at the scene. Tipple’s condition is not known.
The accident is under investigation, but troopers say alcohol was not a factor.
