ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The Muskingum County Land Reutilization Corporation, better known as the land bank, held their monthly meeting to discuss their 12 ongoing projects throughout the county.

The first update from Thursday’s meeting is that the property at 1444 Putnam Avenue is available for purchase with a minimum bid of $11,000. According to Andy Roberts, the executive director of the land bank, the two-bedroom home has some structural issues that need addressed. Roberts also shared updated on where other projects throughout the county stand.

“We’re wrapping up the Howard Johnson demolition out on East Pike. That was in concert with the former Holiday Inn demolition. We’ve got 40 acres of land out there that’s been cleared. We’re getting ready to put that listing up within the next couple of weeks, trying to get some development out at that interchange,” Roberts said.

The land bank’s mission is to return land and vacant abandoned properties to a productive use and is able to do that through money supplied by multiple government grants.

“We made application for demolition monies just last month. We’re waiting to here back on that. We made application for Pine Street dry cleaner up on top of the hill to get that cleaned up and remediated. That should be coming back somewhere around the first of the year. And aside from that, we’re still working 12 active projects throughout the entire county,” Roberts said.
