“Suspicious” Fire on Moxahala Ave
Officials say a fire on Moxahala Avenue in Zanesville late Friday afternoon is being ruled suspicious.
The fire broke out at 609 Moxahala Avenue around 4:30 PM. Fire officials say flames were showing from the 2nd story windows.
"There did not seem to be anybody still inside, I had witnesses, neighbors, say right away that there was nobody living upstairs. There were people down stairs and they were accounted for right off the bat," says Assistant Fire Chief Huey of the Zanesville Fire Department.
The fire was contained to a room on the second floor. Fire officials are investigating the cause of the fire, but they say it did not come up from the 1st floor so it cannot be accidental.
"It is suspicious at this point just because of the nature of nobody being there, nobody living there, you know nothing in there functioning," says Asst. Chief Huey.
The pets living in the home also made it out safely and the dog warden is currently searching the neighborhood for them. The Zanesville Fire and Police Department responded to the fire.
