Local Woman has a Milestone Birthday

It’s a birthday to remember the big 100 and one local woman is celebrating just that.

Sally Olivia Portis celebrated the milestone this weekend with more than 50 family members that flew in from all over the country.
Olivia had eight children. Sally Cook her fifth child says her mom’s secret to a long life is eating good country food and plain old hard work.

In fact she worked all the way up until she was in her late 80’s.

"We can remember when she was 80 years old, her walking about 5 or 6 blocks up the street to go to work," Cook said.

One of Olivia’s many granddaughters says she wanted her grandmother to have something special on her birthday.

"Got made for her birthday I love my grandma she’s very special to me and she’s an inspiration to me too. So I figured I get this made for her because your grandma is only 100 one time," Olivia’s Granddaughter Ebony Small explained.

Ebony visits her grandma every Saturday to spend time with her and make sure she’s getting some exercise because she’s important to her.
