Bucci Dietz Award Given to Yocum

An local artist is honored for his contributions to the art community tonight during the last "First Friday Art Walk" of the year.

David Yocum was selected as the 2009 recipient of the Ronna Bucci and Dr. Charles Dietz Endowment Fund Artist’s Award.

Yocum was chosen because of his service to other artists and his volunteer work at the Zanesville Appalachian Arts Project Gallery where he tends gallery hours, cleans and designs displays, and develops a ZAAP Web site.

His artistic specialties are photography and woodworking, where he creates art under the name Yarcadian Wood Works.

Yocum will receive a $500 grant to use on supplies, exhibition fees, seminars, conferences and other activities to further his career as an artist.

The award is presented in memory of Ronna Bucci, a young artist, and Dr. Dietz the longtime director of the Zanesville Art Center.
