Ending Driving Fatalities
The Licking County Health Department is teaming up with Licking County Safe Communities to help bring an end to driving fatalities.
There have been 16 victims in Licking County so far this year and half of those were the result of an OVI. Health Commissioner Joe Ebel says driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs can be lethal because it impairs your judgement, memory, and perception.
The other 50 percent of those driving fatalities were brought on by people not wearing their seatbelts.
Both local entities are urging people to support the national campaigns "Over the Limit, Under Arrest" and "Click It or Ticket," especially during the holiday season.
