Response Celebrates 20th Birthday

Response Victim Assistance is celebrating a birthday.

It’s been serving the community for 20 years and wanted to thank everyone for their support.

"Ideally, in a perfect world, it would be nice to have no violence, but at least our doors are open. Our agency is here to help victims of domestic violence and sexual assault, " says program manager Janie Malloy.

This time of year brings about more domestic violence cases.

"It’s very stressful on a lot of couples. There’s a lot of financial elements. We’re already in an economic, tough recession time. So, usually-not always-there’s a lot of tension around the holidays, " says Malloy.

Malloy says there’s about a five percent increase.
