Rollover Accident Shuts Down I-70 in Zanesville

A rollover accident is causing traffic headaches on Interstate 70 tonight, forcing both westbound lanes to be shut down for about 45 minutes.

It happened around 8:45 just after the State Street exit in Zanesville.

"It looks like a car was traveling westbound on 70 when it went off the left side of the roadway, striking a concrete barrier and overturning the vehicle, " says Trooper Troy Hale of the Zanesville Post of the State Highway Patrol.

Hale says the driver and one of the two passengers received minor injuries from the crash, but both refused treatment at the scene.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

"More than likely speed or driver inattention. They’re not sure exactly what happened. I talked to the driver already, and he’s not sure what happened, " says Hale.

The tan Acura MDX received major damage. Crews were working on clearing glass and car parts before the passing lane could re-open to traffic.
