Yard Sale Signs Decorate National Road

The weather didn’t hold people back from hunting down bargains on today.

The National Road Yard Sale ran through Muskingum County and gave local businesses, families, and even churches the opportunity to sell furniture, antiques, and other odds and ends. The sale takes place along Rt. 40 from Saint Louis, Missouri to Baltimore, Maryland. People came to Muskingum County from all over to shop.

"A lot of out-of-state people actually coming through and people from out of the area and are letting us know that they’re out of the area because we’ve offered furniture delivery for some of the items here if they were in Muskingum County, so they let us know they were further away," says Wayne Newland from New Hope Gospel Church.

Some local residents along the National Road took advantage of the giant yard sale as well.

"We have a little bit of everything, clothes, lots of antiques, books, just anything we’ve got around the house that gets phased-out," says local resident Bill Tilley.

Skylar Phillips says he helped his family prepare for the sale. "I helped clean out the closets because we needed to get rid of all that stuff and i helped put it out here."

This is the fifth year that Muskingum County has participated in the National Road Yard Sale.
