Off Duty Sheriff’s Deputy involved in Accident

The State Highway Patrol is investigating a hit and run accident involving a Muskingum County Sheriff’s Deputy.

Trooper Lanning said that around 10:30 Tuesday night at the Intersection of 719 and the Maysville Pike a black Nissan Sentra hit a red Honda, driven by an off duty sheriff’s deputy, which then rear ended a silver Chrysler Sebring.

The Sentra then fled the scene. Authorities were able to track it to Chester Street where they found the car abandoned in a yard.

Wednesday morning Trooper Lanning said they were still looking for the driver.

The sheriff’s deputy was taken to Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital, treated and released. No injures were reported from the Sebring.
