Names Released in Fatal Accident
One person is dead and both lanes of Interstate 70 westbound closed following a crash Wednesday afternoon.
It happened shortly before 2:30 in Guernsey County, six miles east of Cambridge.
According to the Cambridge Post of the State Highway Patrol, a Hartwig Transit Semi-Truck, traveling east, driven by 48-year-old Mark Kohler, of New Paris, Pa, went across the median and struck a Toyota Tacoma driven by 48-year-old Thomas Quarles of Indianapolis, Indiana, who was traveling west.
Quarles was killed in the accident. A passenger in the vehicle, Roger Jones was taken to Grant Medical Center in Columbus by Medflight.
The Ohio Department of Transportation had to reroute traffic off I-70 for an extended time while the scene was cleared.
The truck driver, Kohler, was taken to Southeast Ohio Regional Medical Center with non life threatening injuries.
