Woman Pleads Guilty in Hit-and-Run
A New Concord woman pleads guilty to multiple charges related to an April hit-and-run.
In Muskingum County Common Pleas Court, 31-year-old Fonzie Cobler pleaded guilty to two third-degree-felony charges of aggravated vehicular assault, one fifth-degree-felony charge of failure to stop after an accident, and one misdemeanor charge of O.V.I.
According to the Zanesville Post of the State Highway Patrol, on April 12th Cobler was driving on Interstate 70 westbound near the Norwich exit when she struck another vehicle and fled the scene. The Patrol says Cobler then hit a guardrail and mailbox before she was apprehended by troopers.
The couple in the vehicle Cobler hit, Perry and Virginia Harewood, were treated for their injuries at Grant Medical Center in Columbus.
Assistant Prosecutor Ron Welch says they did not make a sentencing recommendation.
Judge Kelly Cottrill ordered a pre-sentence investigation. Cobler remains in the Muskingum County Jail.
