Z-ville Woman Pleads Guilty In Theft
A Zanesville woman pleads guilty Wednesday in connection with the theft of more than $100,000 from a local group. Muskingum County Prosecutor Mike Haddox says 46-year-old Tamera Mealey of 837 Lennox Avenue, a former Good Samaritan Medical Center Gift Shop Manager, entered a guilty plea to a prosecutor’s bill of information that alleges between January of 2005 and October of 2009 Mealey stole just over $142,000 from the volunteer group Charity Circle at Genesis.Haddox says at the time of Wednesday’s plea Mealey did make restitution in the amount of $45,000. A pre-sentence investigation was ordered in the case. Genesis Director of Corporate Communications Marsha Allen says Genesis has incorporated additional checks and balances and regular third party audits to prevent a similar situation from happening again.
