Downtown Living the Current Trend

Zanesville’s Downtown Association is working to show off some of the city’s hidden gems.

In an effort to attract people into living in the downtown area, the Zanesville Downtown Association held their second residential tour where anyone could view rental and for-sale properties.

"The more activities we have going on downtown after 5 p.m., the more vibrant downtown is going to be. What’s going to drive that, the more people we have living downtown the more services are going to be needed," says Dana Matz, Zanesville Downtown Association Manager.

Currently 430 people live downtown. Most of the residential areas are on floors above current businesses.

"We have great infrastructure. We have more than 180 businesses to support it. It cuts down on urban sprawl, it’s very cost-efficient. It’s viewed as green, if you can live above your business you don’t have to start your car to get to work," says Matz.

The tour features a house, seven apartments and two condominiums.
