Update on Fatal Cambridge Fire
A fire turns deadly in the city of Cambridge.
Cambridge police said they were patrolling the area in the 400 block of North Ninth Street when an officer saw smoke in the area and noticed a house fire at 430 North Ninth Street.
The residence was owned by Dr. James Chlovechok. Officers and firefighters attempted to locate the doctor in the home but intense heat, fire, and smoke prevented them from entering.
When they found Dr. Chlovechok was located in an upstairs bedroom, where he was unresponsive. Emergency crews tried to revive him but they were unsuccessful. He was pronounced dead at Southeastern Ohio Medical Center. He was 52.
Agent Chris Stage of the State Fire Marshal’s Office and Agent Steve Burke of the Bureau of Criminal Investigation were called into assist in the investigation.
The fire was determined to be accidental and attributed to an electrical event that occurred within the wall near the first floor dining room.
There is no evidence of foul play. An autopsy will take place.
