Applications for the Martin Luther King Jr. Book Scholarship available

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – It might feel like the school year just started, but for graduating seniors its a good time to start thinking about college scholarships.
Katie McCarty from Scholarship Central and the Muskingum County Community Foundation said their application for the Martin Luther King, Jr. Book Scholarship is now available to students. She said the scholarship is for minority students in Muskingum County who have applied to a two or four year college program and who meet few other requirements.
“So they need a 3.0 GPA and they have to have received an 18 on their ACT or SAT equivalent by the end of November and they have to have completed all of the standardized tests for Ohio,” said McCarty.
McCarty said the applications are available online at scholarshipcentral.org, and that the deadline to apply is November 16th. She said this is a great chance for students to save little on books they’re going to need for classes.
“This is a great opportunity for students just because education is expensive,” said McCarty. “No matter where you go it can be extremely expensive and books are not cheap.”
McCarty said students will be notified by early December if they are being award the scholarship and will be honored at the Martin Luther King Jr. Scholarship Fund Prayer Breakfast on January 21st.
