Pet of the Week: Azure

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The Animal Shelter Society is always looking for families to adopt their adorable animals.
The Pet of the Week is Azure. He is a one and a half year old dog with bright, curious blue eyes. Azure has been through the Shelter’s Cell Dog Program. The Cell Dog program is a program where dogs participate and receive basic training, crate training, and are taught to obey commands. A local trainer, Jensen McVey, is willing to do a few training sessions with him and the new owner. Azure also has half of his adoption fee sponsored, from $200 down to a $100 adoption fee. Executive Director of Animal Shelter Society, Jody Murray, said Azure is still a young dog but is very friendly.
“A really good dog, friendly dog. Just still has that puppy energy in him. But is going to make somebody a really great dog. Is on a good start to some training, and doing well. So we’re looking forward to finding a good home for him,” Murray said.
Last Saturday, the Shelter held their Paws and Claws Benefit. It was the biggest fundraiser of the year for them, and Murray said it was a successful event.
“We just want to say thanks to everybody that came out and participated. You know, those are the kind of things that help the shelter and help us be able to help dogs like Azure,” he said.
