Road Naming Ceremony

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Two road ceremonies were held today in honor of Deputy Robert Tanner and Lieutenant Michael Lutz.
Many law enforcement officers, elected officials, and community members gethered at State Route 146 on Newark Road for a ceremony honoring Deputy Robert Tanner. Afterwards, there was a law enforcement caravan with all participating civilians that traveled to State Route 60 South in Duncan Falls for Lieutenant Michael Lutz’s ceremony.
“Due to Senator now Congressman Balderson helping with the legislation, we were able to get the signs for my father, Lieutenant Mike Lutz and then also for Robert Tanner, who were both killed in the line of duty,” said Sheriff Matt Lutz.
Sheriff Matt Lutz says this has been in the works for the past year with a lot of help and discussion with Congressman Troy Balderson. Lutz also says, this is a way to honor them and show they will never be forgotten.
“It’s just a sign that these two will never be forgotten. We had a lot of community support here today. A lot of current officers, former officers, retired officers. A lot of our citizens showed up, a lot of families are here. So just a tribute to them to let them know that they will never be forgotten,” he said.
Sheriff Lutz wants to thank everyone that helped with the ceremonies.
