11th Race for Grace

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The cold morning temperatures didn’t stop these runners.

Grace United Methodist Church held their 11th Race for Grace and Race Director Becky Woods said they had about 150 runners. She said the race started as a fundraiser for the church but that they wanted to make it into more.

“We were looking for a fundraiser for our church and then we just turned it into something more community based and decided to give it to Eastside,” said Woods.

Woods said all of the money raised from the race will go directly to Eastside Community Ministries. Runner Brad Hollingsworth said to him, the race is a way to spend time with family and give back to those in need. He said its an important tradition for them and that they’ve only missed race day once.

“This is something we do every year,” said Hollingsworth. “The last time we missed this event was six years ago when this young lady was born. She was born on the race day. So this is her sixth birthday today.”

Woods would like to say a special thank you to all those who sponsored this year’s Race for Grace and to all of the runners.
