Bloomer Candy President Dies

ZANESVILLE, Ohio- The former President and CEO of the Bloomer Candy Company of Zanesville has died.
William Barry, 88 was part of the third generation of family to run the company that was founded in 1879. Barry’s dedication to the company, his employees and customers, hard work and tenacity for business allowed the company to grow and prosper under his leadership. He was Chairman of The Good Samaritan Hospital Board of Trustees, President of Bishop Rosecrans High School Board of Trustees, St. Thomas Parish Council President, and was a member of the Diocese of Columbus Foundation and the National Confectioners Association.
Friends may call from 4:00 to 7:00 PM, Monday, November 26, 2018, at the Hillis, Combs & Nestor Funeral Home, 935 Forest Avenue, Zanesville, where a Christian Vigil will be held at 6:45 PM. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:30 AM, Tuesday, November 27, 2018, at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 144 North Fifth Street, Zanesville, with Fr. J.C. Sullivan as celebrant.
Barry will be laid to rest in Mt. Olive Cemetery with VFW Post 1058 and the American Legion Post 29 conducting full military honors.
