SOMERSET, Ohio – The Somerset Police Department has always been in support of spreading joy throughout their community so on Wednesday, December 12th, they did something special for local residents.

The department went out and bought some ham and then some locals donated turkeys. They also wanted to hand out Christmas cards that the department signed including K9 Dolly.

Chief Jeff Pressdee said, “Make interactions and be positive interactions. Rather than us stopping and giving you a ticket, maybe we stop and give you a turkey and wish you a happy holiday.”

The officers wanted to thank the community and tell them that they appreciate all of the support by spending the morning pulling people over and thanking them for driving safe. There were 4 officers out and in the trunk of each cruiser they had 3 hams and 4 turkeys.

A local resident said, ”Oh thank you so much, well for this but not just for this, but also for all the hard work that you do especially at this time of year and all times of the year.” Another local resident said, “Just keep up the good work. Protect and serve.”

Now the morning left some residents feeling awfully confused but in the end, they left with a smile and some food to take home to their family.
