Muskingum Rec Center Holds Swim Meet

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Just keep swimming…for a good cause.
The Tri Valley swim team hosted a holiday relay swim meet with 10 area teams at the Muskingum Rec Center. This is the first year for the holiday meet, with 200 swimmers participating, and awards will even be given out to the swimmer with the most Christmas spirit.
“I’m excited. The kids are excited about it. It’s kind of a relaxed yet fun and not so tense for them, meet. But they are enjoying it,” said meet Co-coordinator, Karen Allen.
The swim teams are collecting for Toys for Tots. They’ve asked all the swimmers, spectators, and the community to bring toys for the program. Toys for Tots distributes toys to children for the holiday season. The meet also benefited the program NC4K, an organization providing support for children fighting cancer.
“It’s a great charity, it supports a lot of kids through a lot of organizations. We just thought it would be really fun and something easy to support especially in Southeast Ohio. And a lot of the teams that are here today are from this area,” said Christi Holmes.
All of the toys collected from the holiday meet will be wrapped next week by the swimmers from the Tri Valley swim team.
