Kevin Martin Foundation Shopping Event

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – A former NBA player spreads the holiday spirit to the children in our community.

Kevin Martin, started the Kevin Martin Youth Foundation to create a positive impact on children by supporting youth and community involvement. Every year, the Foundation puts on a shopping event at Walmart so kids can buy gifts for the holiday season. Each child is given $120 to spend, giving Zanesville families a Christmas to remember.

“We try to bring a hundred plus kids in the community to come out and just basically put a smile on their faces. They can just go around Walmart with a gift card that sponsors provide along with myself. So basically it’s just a night out of shopping,” Martin said.

Martin never forgot his roots, and wanted to do something generous and fun for his hometown.

“Cause I just remember when I was a little kid, and how many people helped me get to where I am today. And I think with me I always wanted to wear Zanesville proud on my shoulders. And I think this is just one of the small ways to do it. Just giving back to the kids, inspiring,” he added.
