United Way releases November 211 calls
ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The United Way of Muskingum, Perry, and Morgan Counties has released their November Report for the 211 information line.
Community Impact Director Becky Clawson said once again the number of Financial Assistance calls for November is at the top of the list. She said they provide many services through the Financial Assistance branch of the 211 line, including all of the zonings for food pantries, driving up the number of calls for that area.
“The reason for that is there are so many things in 211 that we would call safety net services, like shelter, food pantries, hot meals, those sort of things that people are calling for,” said Clawson.
Clawson said while the number of Financial Assistance calls top the list for most of the year, the exception is during this time of year when they are getting ready for their tax clinic. Clawson said they are able to help over 1300 people through the program, but they are in need of about 10 more volunteers this year to help make that happen.
“What we primarily need volunteers for is to actually sit in our tax clinic, and we train you, there is absolutely zero liability,” said Clawson. “Basically, you are working as the data entry person for that tax client.”
Clawson said for anyone interested in volunteering, they can call the United Way at 740-454-6872 and that anyone who would like to schedule a tax appointment can do so through the 211 information line.
