Newark Man Sentencted in Rape/Attempted Murder

The Muskingum County Prosecutor’s Office says a Newark man was sentenced on multiple charges Wednesday including Rape, Kidnapping and Attempted murder.  45-year-old John Iden went before Common Pleas Judge Kelly Cottrill and received 30 years to life in prison.  Iden was also classified as a Tier III sex offender.  The prosecutor’s office says the crimes occurred in 1998 and involved a woman.  Iden was found guilty of the crime during jury trial last month.
