Park District at County Commission Meeting

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The Muskingum Valley Park District met with the County Commission to discuss their work and efforts over the past two years.
The Park District has been up and running for 25 years enriching the quality of life for residents by conserving natural areas and developing an appreciation of natural and cultural heritage in Muskingum County.
“Today’s visit was kind of a marketing campaign with the Commissioners to let them know what we’ve been doing over the last year and a half. So that they have a better idea of what their investment is,” said Executive Director of Muskingum Valley Park District, Russell Edgington.
Edgington highlighted to the County Commission how hard they have been working on their marketing campaign. That includes making signs and getting involved in social media. Their main goal for this year is to hold a county wide statistically valid survey.
“Basically that’s going to be a house hold survey. We think it’s really important as we’re planning for the future to find out what the community wants as far as parks and recreations go,” Edgington said.
He also said they are currently focused on developing the facilities of Mission Oaks Gardens, Gale Gardens, Joe’s Run Recreational Trail, and bringing on line the John McIntire Outdoor Education Center.
