Dug Road Closed Again After Road Slip

Zanesville Mayor Jeff Tilton says Dug Road (Muskingum Avenue) is closed agan due to a major slip.  The Mayor says the city has also closed the sidewalks in the area due to unstable ground.  Tilton says the likely cause is the heavy rains our area recently experienced.  Mayor Tilton says this appears to be a long term issue, but he has a plan in place.  He says the city has recently filed a grant application with the Ohio Mid-East Government Association for 1.3 million dollars and if it is approved would be applied to repair work.  Tilton says the road will remain closed until the city engineer determines the area safe again.  The road was also closed in June of 2017 and November of 2018 for similar issues.
