ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The second annual Zanesville City Half Marathon has an official date.
Zanesville streets will be filled with runners on Saturday, September 14th. Race Director, Hanna Luburgh, said several things go into planning the race. These things include searching for sponsors, gathering a logistics of the course, and assembling volunteers. The race will start and end at Zane’s Landing, with the course going throughout the city of Zanesville. Luburgh also said their goal is to have one thousand runners participate in the race.
“We’re promoting health and wellness and recreation so we thought mine as well get everybody out there, you know support local businesses with bringing outside runners from different communities here. And then of course who doesn’t want to run 13.1 miles?” said Luburgh.
Last year, the Marathon raised over $30,000 to support activities in the area of Wellness and Recreation and assist in community projects.
“The Muskingum County Community Foundation Wellness and Recreation Cornerstone, we decided to come up with a fundraiser in order to raise money, and in 2018 we had so much success, we raised over 30 thousand dollars to go back out into community projects,” Luburgh added.
