Pet of the Week: Oreo

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Every week the Animal Shelter Society is introducing adorable animals looking for their forever home.
Meet Oreo. Oreo is a six month old puppy and is a long haired dachshund and chihuahua mix. He has only been at the shelter for a short amount of time. Oreo gets along with other animals and pets, and with small children as well. Executive Director of the Animal Shelter Society, Jody Murray, described Oreo as a friendly dog that loves to held, and he said Oreo will make someone a wonderful pet.
“You know, if you’re looking for a small house dog, he’s going to be a perfect match for somebody,” said Murray.
The Animal Shelter Society is also working with Brookdale Senior Living on an event being held on Thursday, February 21st. The shelter’s volunteers and representatives will bring animals for the Brookdale residents and community members to meet. During the event, people can also donate one dollar and put their name on a puppy paw that will be displayed on the windows.
“The way they play with them brings smiles to their face, it just makes their day. So we wanted to take it a step further and just really share that excitement with the community,” said Executive Director of Brookdale Senior Living, Sarah Vincenzo.
The event at Brookdale Senior Living will take place from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. And Oreo’s adoption fee is $300, but the shelter is also providing a doggy bed and a bag of food with his adoption.
