National Adoption Weekend and Pet of the Week

Diego Pet Of The Week

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – February 22nd through the 24th is National Adoption Weekend, and the Animal Shelter Society is introducing a puppy looking for his new home.

Meet Diego. He is ten weeks old and a labrador mix. Diego is already up to date with his shots, he is already neutered, and has an adoption fee of $150 with the dog license included. The Animal Shelter Society is pairing up with PetSmart to celebrate National Adoption Weekend, where Diego will be available to meet his potential family at PetSmart on Saturday.

“Diego is a lab mix. His personality as you can see is wonderful. He likes car rides, he likes to be held, he likes to play,” said Assistant Director of the Animal Shelter Society, Russell Denny.

“Diego is tomorrow from 12 to 3, along with his sister, Dora, who looks just like him,” Denny added.

PetSmart holds National Adoption Weekend four times a year showing off many animals including cats and dogs. Their mission is to find homes for pets all over the country.

“The importance of these weekends is obviously to get as many lives saved. You know it’s such an amazing benefit not only to the partners and the groups that we support here in the town, but also to give these pets life long homes so that they can be rescued and have amazing lives going forward,” said PetSmart store leader, John Dillon.

National Adoption Weekend runs at Petsmart both Saturday and Sunday from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. The Animal Shelter Society still has tickets available for their “Yappy Hour” event coming up on March 7th, tickets are $35 and can be purchased at the animal shelter.
