ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The Gentle Giants is a support group that brought members of the community together on Saturday, February 23rd for a potluck with a very important focus.

Suicide survivors gathered at the House of Grace Church to remember their loved ones and to honor their memory. Ari Norris lost her friend Alivia Gentile one year ago and was the idea behind the event.

“Alivia she was very bright, she was a bright soul and she was really joyful,” Norris said.

At the event, there was a table filled with food and posters covered with pictures. Norris said if you didn’t get to attend the event and are in need of some advice or healing, reach out to someone and try to make new friends who understand.

“I think it’s good to bring people together cause it’s good to meet new people who have gone through the same stuff and you can just sit there and talk about things and sometimes you want to build a better bond with people,” Norris said.

At the end of the event, attendees gathered around and did a balloon release to honor Alivia and others they have lost.
