16th Annual Garden Symposium This Weekend

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – If you are starting to get “Spring fever” you might be interested in this event this weekend.
The Muskingum Valley Garden Society is hosting their 16th Annual Garden Symposium on Saturday, March 2nd at the Ohio University Zanesville campus. The Symposium features a variety of educational opportunities with speakers discussing many informative subjects, a continental breakfast and buffet for lunch, and much more.
“We have several other speakers coming in, we’ve got a wonderful silent auction, and we’ve got beautiful rain barrels that were done by our local artists in here in Zanesville,” said member of the Muskingum Valley Garden Society, Beth Brown.
Brown said there is an increase of people becoming interested in gardening. She said events like this highlight the importance of horticulture and embellishing a community. And this Symposium is the biggest fundraiser of the year for the Muskingum Valley Garden Society.
“With this money we are able to do 159 planters downtown. We do the Y-Bridge baskets. And throughout the year we do workshops, we continually want to educate and beautify our community,” she mentioned.
The event runs Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Pre-registration is $30 and can be made on the Garden Society’s website.
