Blair Named 1st Team All-Ohio Again
By Dan Wolfgang
Zanesville Senior Braily Blair did it all in 2010.
After an injury to Senior Talen Hutchison during two-a-days, Blair stepped up into the running game and led the Blue Devils in that category for most of the season.
He finished with 830 yards and 13 touchdowns.
When surrounded by a relatively young secondary, Blair responded.
As a leader both on and off the field, he served as an anchor for a defense that pulled in over 20 interceptions on the year, 4 of them to his credit.
Even though 2 were returned for scores, none was bigger than his 4th quarter INT vs. Licking Valley.
A Panther pass that was tipped at the line of scrimmage fell into Blair’s hands, setting the Blue Devils up for a game-winning drive and keeping their postseason hopes alive.
Blair’s performance again earned him 1st Team All-Ohio laurels in Division II for the 2nd straight year on Monday.
"He’s one of the most complete players I’ve ever coached," said coach Chad Grandstaff. "He’s a leader in every way, so are Gary [Ransom] and Jacob [Masterson]. Those guys will really be missed."
Blair’s classmates were also honored by the State Media Panel on Monday. Masterson was named 2nd team All-Ohio for his performance on the offensive line.
Ransom earned 3rd team honors at linebacker. Tri-Valley’s Casey Williams (WR) and Skylar Hanby (OL) were also named 3rd team performers in Division II.
