Accident Sends Officer to Hospital

A New Concord Police Officer is struck by a vehicle Monday night while on duty.

According to Sgt. Jeremy Mendenhall with the Zanesville Post of the State Highway Patrol, New Concord Officer Misty Milligan was hit when directing traffic for the New Concord Christmas Parade.

Sgt. Mendenhall says around 5:45 Milligan was in the intersection of U.S. 22 and Rix Mills Road and directed 49-year-old Yvonne Adair of New Concord to proceed eastbound. As Adair’s vehicle was traveling through the intersection her mirror struck Milligan’s arm knocking her to the ground.

Milligan was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital with what Mendenhall says are minor injuries. He says it’s unlikely at this time Adair will face any charges.
