What a first week for the Zanesville Blue Devls at the new Winland Memorial Gymnasium. Three games in the first week of the new home nets three wins for Zanesville, but it wasn’t easy. The Blue Devils entered the final frame against Cambridge Saturday night tied with the Bobcats at 29, only to outscore the upstart Cambridge team 14-7 in the fourth quarter, to win by the final tally of 43-36. Leading the Blue Devils in scoring was Cole Carpenter who had a game high 19 points and 9 rebounds. Rian Burrell filled up the stat sheet with 12 points, four rebounds, four assists, three blocks and four steals.
At Rogge Gymnasium, Rosecrans picked up where they left off at Shadyside Friday. Jake Phillis, who scored 20 points on the night, knocked down back-to-back three’s just before the half to give the Bishops a 41-29 over West Muskingum at the break. From there, Zak Kirkbride took the load carrying the Red and Black with a game-high 30 points as Rosecrans (5-0) rolled to a 78-57 over the Tornadoes. Jared Dalton also added 13 points, including three first half triple’s. Donald Click dumped in a team-high 21 points for West Muskingum.
