License Your dog

A reminder for dog owners in Muskingum County that your dog must have a 2011 dog license. From now through January 31,2011 dog licenses will be sold at different locations throughout the county (listed below). Each dog you own must have a separate license.

"The importance of a dog license is for if your dog would get lost in your community that a person that would pick up your dog would have the little tag on the dog’s collar and they would be able to call the dog pound or our office and we would be able to locate the owner " explains County Auditor Debra Nye.

To obtain a license fill-out a registration form and pay the $10.00 fee. The license will be in the form of a tag that the dog will wear on his or her collar. After January 31,2011, licenses will only be sold at the county auditor’s office and they will cost more. There are consequences for not registering a dog.

"We would have to penalize you and you have to pay that fee and we would issue you a license at that time, but you definitely want to have your dog licensed " said Nye.
