Adopting a Pet
The cat room at the animal shelter in Muskingum County is maxed out so to ease the situation the shelter is offering a sale on cats. Cats over 6 months old will be on sale for $20.00 when they normally cost up to $50.00. Shelter volunteers say they enjoy and love the animals.
"It’s fun and we get to play with the animals. It’s for the animals that have been abandoned and abused. We like to take care of them and let them know there is still hope" said volunteers Mackenzie Kunz & Hailly Shaffer.
The hope is they will one day be adopted. The dog pictured is 10 year old Norman. He is a black and tan dachshund that weighs just over 7 pounds. He is house broken and neutered.
The cat is 1 year old Addison. She is litter trained, spayed and has all of her shots. Her foster mother says she is a good pet and a lover. Cats may need less care than dogs.
"Cats are great. They are a lot more care free than dogs. They need the litter box, give them a bowl of food, pet them, take them to the vet once a year and normally they are care free " said Larry Hostetler, Executive Director.
The sale will run until the end of the week.
