Republican Mayor Candidate Files Petition

A man who wants to be the next Mayor of Zanesville got one step closer today. Republican Rob Sharrer turned in his petitions at the Muskingum County Board of Elections Tuesday afternoon.  50 signatures are needed, but Sharrer turned in 84.

"The signatures on the petition was not a vote; it was not an endorsement in anyway it simply allowed me to place my name on the ballot " said Rob Sharrer.

The Board of Elections will not have to certify the petitions. Sharrer feels his business experience will benefit Zanesville and he wants to be accountable.

"The city of Zanesville right now. It cannot be about republican or democrat, it cannot be about politics. It has to be about what is best for the city of Zanesville" notes Sharrer.

Sharrer plans to campaign door to door and in the summer months he will hold events to talk to the citizens. Democrat Jeff Tilton has announced plans to also run.
