Making Golf Affordable

Golf is one of the most expensive sports to play but the Zanesville District Golf Association is making it a bit easier for some young golfers with a fundraiser.

The ZDGA raised money by charging $5.00 for the event at the Knights of Columbus in Zanesville as well as having a silent auction. There is no fee for vendors. They sold clubs, clothing and advertised tee-times. The ZDGA will use the money to give back to kids in the community.

"Golf is not getting any less expensive and so it is very expensive to play golf and we try to keep the tournament dollars down" said ZDGA president Steve Galloway.

This fundraiser has taken place for 22 years. It not only helps to keep the price of golf down, but since 1998, $27,000 in scholarships have been given away.

"It is a great organization.they promote amateur golf in Muskingum County and the surrounding counties and we of course love Jr golf" said Galloway.

Even on such a big game day like today, Steeler fans and even a Packers fan came out to support the sport.
