Postal Service To Stop Zanesville Mail Processing

The United States Postal Service has decided to stop mail processing in Zanesville. Columbus District Manager Joshua Colin says local processing will be consolidated into the Columbus Processing and Distribution Center. This decision will affect 11 employees who will be moved to the Columbus facility. Colin says on August 9th of 2010 the Postal Service advised local leaders of their intent to conduct a feasibility study and after a review Colin says it is in the best interest of the U.S. Postal Service and will result in significant savings. Colin says because of a drastic decline in mail volume, the Postal Service is in a fiscal crisis and must take action to reduce the size of its mail processing network. Colin says he expects this transition to be completed by the end of September of 2011. Local mail delivery will not be affected by this move and full retail services will still be available.
