Big Wheels Keep on Turning
COSI on Wheels rolled in this morning to Adamsville Elementary School.
The COSI program started with an assembly and continued throughout the day as students explored interactive stations; activities that all concentrated on the topic of energy. Outreach Educator Derek Bringardner says COSI on Wheels provides different science experiments to schools to introduce an addition to what the students are doing inside of the classroom. Derek says COSI keeps busy throughout the year providing six different shows at all times…four days a week.
"About 24 shows a week at random places around Ohio, and around the bordering states, Indiana, Kentucky, West Virginia, Michigan; we had a co-worker go up to Wisconsin," said Bringardner.
Sharon Craddock has grandchildren that attend Adamsville School. She trained this morning, along with other community members, so they could all volunteer at the different experiment stations.
"We are doing vibrations and what we are doing is taking the pitch forks and hitting them against these mallets here, and we are putting the different items up against the childrens’ ears, and they are feeling the vibration from it or hearing the vibration from it and what it causes," said Craddock.
The PTO organized today’s program. They say the community’s support has been overwhelming…and without them, they could not raise money and have events like today’s COSI on Wheels.
