To Kill a Mockingbird

One local theater is providing some entertainment for the public.

Zane Trace Players put on a production of  To Kill a Mockingbird at the Renner in downtown Zanesville on Sunday. Director Rich Tolliver said he selected this play because it’s a classic story and is still socially relevant.

"We’ve got a well balanced cast, all the characters are very good tight, it’s kind of fun because we’re doing it all in monochromatic, everybody except the narrator is in black, white, or a shade of gray, even the set," said Tolliver.

Tolliver said the black and white theme compliments the time period in which the novel was written. He said they had to be creative in designing the set since the stage is fairly small.

"To make it have multiple functions because you have to have a courtroom with a gallery, you have to be able to have three houses so part of the set rotates, there’s moving curtains that block off part and it switches to block off another," he said.

Today was the third of six performances. For a complete list of show dates, you can visit the theater’s website at www.zanetraceplayers.org
