Zanesville Church Helps Feed The Hungry

If you are struggling during these difficult economic times including putting food on your own table, a Downtown Zanesville church is ready to help.

The Fellowship of Christ Community Church on 6th Street serves up a warm meal for those less fortunate every Sunday starting at 5:00 p.m. They are one of the very few organizations, if not the only one that serves on a Sunday. But it’s more than just a meal.

"We show family movies, we have 4-H, we have a reading class for adults, they sit around, play cards, checkers, we always have a video going. It’s family, they really look at each other as family and then we have worship service afterwards," said Director Mary Perone.

The church has been doing the Sunday meal program for over 30 years and is made possible through many donors throughout the community as well as the church.

"It makes me feel like I am doing God’s work. My personal belief is that we’re put here to help each other and I feel like that’s what I am doing," said Perone.

Volunteers start cooking around 2:00 p.m. every Sunday. Doors open at 5:00 and they serve until 5:45.
