ZANESVILLE, OH – For one Zanesville family, a love of aviation has been passed down for generations.

The Norman family, owners of Parr Airport, has four generations of pilots. The family’s history at the airport dates back to 1971, when Clarence “Earl” Norman and his son Charles “Chuck” Norman founded the airport.

Today, 24-year-old Ashton Norman and his 21-year-old sister, Aeriel, are continuing the family tradition. Ashton is also a flight instructor, following in the footsteps of his father, Bob, and grandfather, Chuck.

Ashton says some of his earliest memories include flying with his dad, while Ariel began learning to fly at just 13 years old.

In honor of National Aviation Day, WHIZ’s Shylin Costello joined Ashton for a flight over Zanesville to experience the family’s passion for aviation firsthand.

Parr Airport offers flight training for those interested in becoming pilots, as well as airplane rides for those who simply want to experience the view from above.
