Dorothy L. Durant Davis (February 18, 1937 – July 27, 2012)

Dorothy L. Durant Davis, 75, of Zanesville, passed away at 4:45 p.m. Friday, July 27, 2012 at her residence. She was born February 18, 1937, in Zanesville, a daughter of the late Herbert L. and Myrtle E. Shaffer Durant. She retired after 33 years of service with General Electric. She was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church and the American Legion. She was a Cub Scout Leader for 16 years and enjoyed bowling and bingo.

Surviving are five sons, David L. (Marie) Davis of San Antonio, TX, George M. (Linda) Davis of Hebron, Rick L. (Pam) Davis and Steven M. Davis, both of Zanesville and James E. (Song) Davis of Pickerington; three daughters, Rebecca S. (Gary) Knighton of Dayton, Linda K. Davis and Katharine R. (Tom) Wells, both of Zanesville; eight grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; a brother, Daniel (Susan) Durant; a sister, Rose Marie Bates; and a special cousin, Mary Coates.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George E. Davis, whom she married April 9, 1960 and who passed away May 10, 2006; four brothers, Herbert L. Jr., James Richard, John and Joseph Durant; and two sisters, Virginia Warne McCabe and Pauline Durant.

Friends and family may call from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m., Sunday, July 29, 2012 at THE SNOUFFER FUNERAL HOME, 1150 W MILITARY RD., ZANESVILLE. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, July 30, 2012 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, 925 Main St., Zanesville with Father Martin Ralko as celebrant. Dorothy will be laid to rest next to her husband, George, in Mt. Olive Cemetery.
